De Graafse Waard

The Graafse Waard project is located in the northern area of Bodegraven, directly adjacent to the beautiful Green Heart of Holland. The post WWII neighborhood is being transformed as part of an urban renewal initiative. The project tendered by Mozaïek Wonen consists of 166 apartments and homes arranged as terraced living spaces; taller towards the North and stepping down in the direction of the Koninginneweg. This way the new block visually connects to the surrounding built environment and the well-lit terraces enjoy an optimal view of the beautifully outstretched landscape of the Green Heart.

The horizontal ribbons of white metal, combined with charcoal colored ceramic tiles and copper colored aluminum highlight the dynamic volumes and offer a sense of clarity and unity. These architectural choices are reiterated through the repetition of the horizontal ribbons and the white bricks in the free-standing homes.
