In 1999 Chris de Weijer and Robert Alewijnse started DP6 architectuurstudio at Doelenplein 6 in Delft. Chris de Weijer needed a new challenge after starting Mecanoo architects 16 years earlier. For Robert Alewijnse, who had been working 10 years in different offices, it was time for him to start his own office.
At the Doelenplein they worked on a wide variety of commissions, shared a single, large office, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and feedback. The original team of 8 has quickly grew to 28 people. Because of this reason Harrie Hupperts was added to the management team in 2006. As managing director of the Rotterdam Architecture Department, Harrie gained a lot of experience in design coordination, construction techniques, building and preparation processes, construction costing, and innovation to optimise the designs and technical detailing.
In 2010, in the mean time moved to the listed monument the Dynamo Hall in Delft, Richelle de jong joined the management team of DP6 as a partner and director.

Chris de Weijer
The mainstays of the designs produced by Chris are “landscape” and “innovation”. His ingenious solutions to fit buildings into the landscape and his use of modern techniques and materials have helped raise his designs to a higher level.

ROBERT ALEWIJNSE
During his many travels Robert Alewijnse became fascinated by architecture without architects, the kind of architecture that appears to spring up naturally as a result of location, local customs, craftsmanship, and feeling. Robert Alewijnse favours a practical approach to design problems. His designs are the result of an analysis of location and function. In an associative design process he then searches for a powerful

concept that answers the design brief. Throughout the design process from rough draft to finished building he sets great store by the craftsmanship of both architect and builder.

RICHELLE DE JONG
One of Richelle’s greatest qualities is that she designs very distinct architecture, which fits the client and user such as a tailored made suit. Richelle is fascinated by sensorial experience of buildings: “ the search for what makes the difference, what moves people.”

HARRIE HUPPERTS
Harrie sets great store by well-detailed buildings in which the various disciplines of architecture, interior, structure, power and climate systems, and building physics are truly integrated and fit in logically with the design.
