HOME IS THE DYNAMOHAL IN DELFT
Home to DP6 is the Dynamohal, a former research laboratory in the northern part of the Delft Technical University campus, on the outskirts of the historical town of Delft. A listed building, the Dynamohal has been converted for use as office space by means of a thorough restoration and a number of subtle adaptations.

RESEARCH FACILITY
The Dynamohal was built circa 1903 after a design by government architect Van Lokhorst and was used to accommodate dynamo test rigs for the adjoining faculty of Electrical Engineering and Physics. The shape of the building was dictated by the need to have an overhead gantry crane and floor tracks to which the dynamo rigs could be anchored. The high windows and the skylights allow daylight to flood the interior. The combination of brick masonry, structural steel, and glass gives the building a typical atmosphere of industrial heritage.

DYNAMOHAL AS OFFICE SPACE
The original layout of the Dynamohal was particularly well-suited to the flat organisational structure of its user, DP6 architecture studio. A single, large open space shared by all the employees ensures optimum communication and sharing of knowledge.
Little has therefore been altered in the layout of the building. The main workshop has remained unpartitioned, retaining the unique atmosphere of the interior. Any work that had to be done involved mainly technical repairs and improvements, building physics, and the view.
