MULTIKERING KATWIJK

The 'Multikering' design aims at the development of integrated solutions for water safety and logistical planning through combining a parking garage and a variety of facilities in a multifunctional embankment along the coast of Katwijk aan Zee. The unique character of Katwijk is preserved with its boulevards, rolling dunes and direct view of the ocean. The multifunctional flood-defense will house a wide range of functions such as small-scale restaurants, retail, culture, recreation, and nature without obstructing the typical Katwijk aesthetic.
This project was initiated by the CUR Multidijk program and is a collaborative effort between DP6, the city of Katwijk, Ingenieursbureau Gemeente Rotterdam (Rotterdam Municipal Engineers), Rijkswaterstaat dienst Infrastructuur (Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment), the TNO and the TU Delft.
