Morgenstond Neighborhood Centre
The Morgenstond Neighborhood Centre focuses on children, offering an educationally and didactically continuous teaching course and providing the children with a wide array of development opportunities. Children, parents and local residents, young and old are welcome. This is the place to meet people, the place where the connection with the neighborhood is established. The building opens its windows onto the surroundings and will help reinforce a sense of unity and collaboration within the area.
The gyms have been raised to free up the ground floor and give visitors to the building a sense of space, order and orientation. Here, at the core of the building, the various organisations mingle. Here, in the intimate relationships between schools, day-care centre, playgroup and the youth & family centre, the continuous teaching course literally becomes visible. This is where the playgroup and day-care centre are visually and physically linked with the core of the building, and where the broad link is established with the existing Krullevaar school. A spacious sunken area with stepped seating unites the concepts of assembly area and playroom, and can be used as a single space or divided by a folding partition. The kitchen and parents’ room, the grand cafe and youth centre are adjacent to the assembly area and form part of this lively core of the neighborhood centre.
