We’re going circular!

DP6 has signed the Circular Architecture Manifesto of the Royal Institute of Dutch Architects (BNA). DP6 wholeheartedly endorses the manifesto’s five design principles, aimed at creating a sustainable world where everything is designed to be repaired, reused and regenerative. What does this mean for DP6? First and foremost, that we want to make valuable buildings to which people become attached and enjoy using. It means designing flexible buildings that are easy to adapt, so that they don’t have to be demolished soon. And if they are demolished, that their materials can be reused. We deploy reused and/or reusable and low-maintenance materials as much as possible, and we think that natural materials that age gracefully enhance the character of buildings and pleasant surroundings. But it also means designing buildings in such a way that they make optimal use of the sun and therefore require as few installations as possible. These are just a few of the circular principles that DP6 already applies in its designs and that can be found in the manifesto.
