Start construction music venue Victorie

A rock gig at the building site on Tuesday, 12 April signalled the start of construction of the Victorie pop venue. After the music act the first pile was driven. The new building will rise in Overstad, a former industrial area now being redeveloped to provide a combination of residential, business and commercial functions. The design matches the existing, slightly rough-edged atmosphere of Overstad. The facade consists mainly of steel and aluminium coated in a typical industrial colour. The luminous letters on the trusses of the building really stand out and form part of the overall architecture of the building. The interior too has been given a rugged look, with concrete walls and a ceiling of wooden battens that appear to have been nailed in place haphazardly. The new pop venue is being built by Lokhorst Construction and Development of Beverwijk.
