W6

Commissioned by AM, a new residential building providing 26 spacious apartments is being realised at the ‘Entree West’ location in Haarlem. The Haarlem district ‘De Entree’ lies on the threshold of the old town, between the Schipholweg and the Boerhaavelaan. The ‘Hofmeester’ building rounds off the construction work. Prominently situated at the head of the ‘Hofvijver’ water feature, the complex is a free-standing landmark element with a special plasticity. The building makes full use of the qualities offered by the location, with its view across the expanse of water, green spaces along the eastern side, and sunny exterior spaces on the south-facing side.

The facade features strong horizontal white metal accents outlining open and closed sections of anthracite-coloured cladding and wooden frames. The white stripes continue into the parapets of the terraces and balconies. Depending of their orientation and the desired effect, the accents become narrower and feature glazed inserts. Sustainable detailing is an essential ingredient to maintain the building’s high quality level in the future.
