Aula Wageningen
In the procedure to select a suitable partner for the redevelopment of the Aula site, WUR has expressed a preference for the Noordereng Groep/DP6 as the party to head the redevelopment. WUR is of the view that in the proposal by Noordereng Groep/DP6, the new function of the Aula as a centre for debating peace, food and security contributes to the cultural-historical value of the Aula and that the site plan lends the whole area an open, high-quality and inviting character.
To preserve the social and historical function of the Aula, Noordereng Groep and DP6 have developed the idea of turning the building into a centre for discussing ‘Food and Security’. This new debate function is very appropriate alongside the function of ‘World Hotel’ and has been chosen so that many themes can be addressed in this debate centre. Moreover, the traditional context of Wageningen with its ‘food’ university can continue to showcase its history. The plan elaborated by DP6 does justice to the monumental value of the existing building designed by H.T. Zwiers.
